The hike/traverse is very difficult, with a great elevation gain of about 1600m (1600m up...) and great views!!! This traverse is scored by many hikers as one of the most spectacular hikes in the Adirondacks! However, it is one way ticket hike, as it starts and finishes at different placeJ. We will not go back to the departure point, so be conscious of that and ready for that challenging great journey J WHEN YOU RSVP, YOU ARE ASKED 2 QUESTIONS. PEOPLE WHO DON'T PROVIDE CLEAR ANSWERS WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE LIST WITHOUT NOTICE. If you don't see questions when you RSVP, please message the answers for the following questions to me.   • Hiking Indian Head trail, 16.5 km, 500 m elevation gain

    Note : This hike is for intermediate level hikers. Thanks to the cool Spring weather, it will be a great first or second hike of the season for many SPACY members. Parking Coordinates are :[masked]°N,[masked]°W IMPORTANT DETAILS: 1. You are responsible for: • Passport and/or U.S. visa; U.S. cash may be necessary, although most places take credit cards • Your backpack containing 2 to 3 litres of water, a tasty lunch, snacks and energy bars. • Extra dry clothing due to changing weather at different elevations. • Sunscreen, bug spray, first aid kit and maybe sunglasses and a hat. We will be leaving the Lionel-Groulx metro station at 6:50am to avoid border traffic and to get good parking spots on the trail. Arrive by 6:40am to allow for a few minutes to regroup into our assigned cars. 2. Drivers: please comment when your car is full of riders. 3. Passengers requesting a ride must email drivers directly to secure a spot. Please do it through direct email (click on the driver's name and then send the driver your message directly). Please avoid asking for rides in the comments to avoid comments congestion. Riders without any driving arrangement by Friday 2pm will be removed from the Going list and marked as a no-show.. 4.     The forecast calls for beautiful riding weather. Hard at work? Or... do you want to ride?... I will post the route of our ride later in the week... or we will decide at the last minute. The ride will be about 80 - 85 km and will certainly include a stop for a lunch (and beer) along the route. Meeting point GPS coordinates:[masked], [masked]. Distance: 80 - 85 kms. Difficulty: No significant hills The fine print: 1 - Only a road bike, touring bike or hybrids are accepted, no mountain bikes, no electric bikes! We will cruise at an average 25 - 27 km/h, more or less. 2 - There is one question when you sign up, if you can't see the question because you are signing up from a cell phone, please make sure you send me the answer by private message: What was your longest ride this season, in kms? 3 - You have a spare tube with you in case something happens.   • First hike of the season: Nun-Da-Ga-O and Big Crow! 12 km, 700 m elevation gain

    Summer hiking season starts now! Join us on a hike along the ridge of Nun-Da-Ga-O and to Big Crow as well. This hike is as easy as it gets with SPACY events -- it is ideal for hikers who have not yet hiked this season. It is relatively short but with phenomenal views along the ridge. There are many view points along the way in additions to the views from the summit. We are all in for a treat! We will reach the summit, spend some time there and then continue in a counterclockwise direction. Ascent: total elevation gain is around 700 m. Distance is about 12.5 km which will take us under 5-1/2 hours to finish including lunch. Below is the route from Montreal to the trailhead where we will park the cars and start the hike.   • Cycling Mirabel loop - Lachute for lunch - 90 km, 480 m elev gain

    The rain will end by 9am Sunday morning, so... a fabulous ride in the country through scenic villages and quaint farms is in need. The ride is 90 km long and follows some winding rivers. Total Distance: 93 kms Net elevation gain: 480 m The ride should take us about 5 - 6 hours including breaks and lunch. Our meeting point at the start of the ride is 10:00am at the Cabane à Sucre Constantin at 1054 Boulevard Arthur-Sauvé, Saint-Eustache, QC J7R 4K3 where we will determine where best to park our cars. 1. Regardless of your bike, you are essentially affirming that you can cruise at a minimum of 24 km/h or more (on flat ground, no wind) for long periods. You have done similar distances and are comfortable cycling easy hills. 2. You and your bike are in good condition before the trip to avoid hiccups and unwanted stops. Good condition includes properly inflated tires and a recently lubricated chain, each of which will make your ride easier and more pleasant. 3. A helmet is mandatory. 4. An extra tube is required in case of a flat and it's always a good idea to carry basic tools. 5. Bring energy bars and plenty to drink, we will stop along the way for lunch and ice cream. 6. DRIVERS: Offer rides in the comments along with how many passengers you can take and please update. Riders please e-mail drivers directly requesting for a spot in the car. Requests made in the comments below will be deleted. They are considered spam. 7. RIDERS: Ride-sharing fee is $10 per rider.   • Cycling - St-Philippe - Lacolle - Napierville loop 90 km, flat ride along farms

    Let's get out of the city and enjoy a ride with friends! This ride is mostly on quiet country roads along farms and fields. Very picturesque cycling, easy to ride two abreast for parts of the ride. We will ride south towards the U.S. border, but will not cross the border, then we'll head east a bit and ride north back to the starting point, in the shape of a rectangle. The meeting point noted above, is for ride-sharing purposes. If you drive straight to the starting point of the cycling route, then plan to arrive there at 10am. I will post the exact route on Thursday: It starts (and ends) in St-Philippe, only 20 minutes south of Montreal. You can get the .gpx file from the link which I will provide on Thursday, to know where to meet exactly in St-Philippe, and to follow the route using your phone or GPS device. The ride will be about 90 km and includes no hills of any consequence. Distance: 90 kms, elevation: about 135 meters total elevation gain. Difficulty: no hills so we'll average about 23-25 km/hr Ride-sharing fee is as follows: $5 per passenger for cars with the driver and 2 or 3 passengers. $10 per passenger for cars with the driver and 1 passenger. The fine print: 1 - Preferably a road bike. Touring bike or hybrids or mountain bikes are accepted provided you can keep the pace. However with the cool, early morning temperatures, we will start our ride at 11am to give the air a chance to warm up first. We will ride east along the Lachine Canal, then along Cite du Havre, over the Expo islands to the Jacques-Cartier bridge, up and over the bridge, and then along the bike path to Chambly for a deserved break and lunch. Same route back. The ride will be about 75 km and will certainly include a stop for a lunch (and beer) at a tasty cafe-terrasse along the water. Meeting point is on the terrasse just below Atwater market; GPS coordinates:[masked], [masked]. Distance: 75 kms. Difficulty: No significant hills The fine print: 1 - Only a road bike, touring bike or hybrids are accepted, no mountain bikes, no electric bikes!
