Volleyball For Fun (Recreational). "Please RSVP if you intend to come."

  • Feb 14, 2014 · 6:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Friday night volleyball is recreational level fun! But all levels are welcome. Please RSVP early. Do not wait till last minute to make changes to your RSVP.

Come out, be active, meet friends and have fun. Everyone's welcome. You come, take ownership and play. PMCC adult pickup is 18+.  (They do allow 16+ on request).

Facility charges $7.00 per person.

You come, take ownership and play. We meet/catch up with friends during breaks. Organizers listed here are helpers who post the event and help answer any questions you new members may have. Do not expect them to run the event. At court we expect everyone to step up and help make this a fun event for each other.

New to SportsNFun? It is pick up, not league. You must be open to play with varied skill levels and rotate in/sit out as required. If you have played before and if you have basic skills, then you'll probably fit in okay with a willingness to advance.

Please check out http://www.sportsnfun.info/events/.

I haven't been around in quite a while. Looks like this place has continued to grow :). I see you guys are having some growing pains... I play open gym basketball at a local church and they have a huge gym with volleyball facilities. Next time I'm there, I'll inquire about the possibility of renting the gym out for volleyball. I know it can accommodate at least 2 courts...maybe 3. I'll keep me eyes open for more places as well.

You the man Max! Why am I saying that you ask? One, it's true and two, I just felt like it.

I was on the waiting list and just now saw that I bubbled up to playing. But, I don't feel like it, there is so much controversy going on I think I'll wait until things die down. Next week, hopefully.

NP Warren, I'm just too tired from shoveling to deal with drama. Think I'll eat comfort food and pop open a beer tonight.

Have a great pat. Enjoy your ice cream and chocolates :)

The problem with Phoenixville is they never have enough people. If it says 18, it really means 10. If it says 13, it really means 6 or 7. That is not enough for a game.

    • Nancy

      Agreed

Alan, I had asked Rec center to see if they can post a comment a day before the game, reminding to update rsvp (show up :))..Comments on previous day really helps. Any players RSVping can help. I will change the description to say that and also ask the update rsvp question on sign up. Let me know if you have other suggestions.

We have 12 people on the waitlist for Plymouth Meeting. Please update your RSVP if you won't be attending. We have two other volleyball events on the same night (King of Prussia & Phoenixville) with plenty of open spots at Aspiring Champions in King of Prussia. Please make sure you are not signed up for multiple events.

Well done. Thank you. I'll stick with PMCC for the rest of February since I've arranged my work schedule around it, but I'm wait listed for the month of March so if this becomes a regular event I may start going to KofP. It's closer and the timing's better for me.

And maybe with only 2 hours of volleyball I won't need to be popping Motrin all day on Saturday.

Please provide any suggestions for improvement for Friday night volleyball on this message board. I will send them to PMCC management.

So I can't really reply to the link on my phone... So I will do it here. I think the biggest issue with this meetup group is it's success. I think the best strategy would be to increase capacity not exclude people from playing. Are there other nights a week we could play? Could we use another quarter of the gym? Are there any players that should really be playing in the competitive league at the Phoenixville gym that plays at the same time? Are there other gyms? Is it really that bad to sit out a game or two and rotate? I really wanted to play this previous week but didn't and now looks as if I will be on every waiting list through April. I just like playing, I want to respect the needs of the meetup but how many games should I miss before it is fair for me to play? All just because I didn't learn about the meet up before some others... Just doesn't seem right. Sitting out a game or two is a lot better than being told that you can't play.

Jack, I agree. Other half of the gym is not equipped for volleyball but I will bring it up. We did enquire with Ces, Phoenixville rec and few other places. We are hoping other members will also help us find new venues. Aspiring has Fridays. Hopefully we can eliminate the wait list with 3 venues and wallyball on Fridays . Other week nights could be hard to find in winter. We won't give up :)

In March, more times will open up for Volleyball. I heard CES has no court time for open gym Feb and March. I have left a message for Phoenixville Rec. If you know of any other volleyball places in the area, please shoot me an email.

Laura, I left a message with Joyce. They will get back to us. We were able to get Aspiring to give us Friday nights.

Reminder: Friday is Valentine's Day, so make sure you are not signed up for volleyball if you have other plans.

Well I was kind of thinking maybe cupid would aim his arrow my way at the event this week. Unfortunately it has become painfully clear that although the women that attend the event play twice as well as me, I'm twice their age so I won't get my hopes up.

Maybe I should see what's happening on some Ballroom dancing meetup group this Friday. Maybe there's some rich old widows with low standards and high bank accounts looking for a dance partner. Half the time I'm on the volleyball court it looks like I'm trying to do the Tango anyway, so what the hell.

Oh, and I just got word from the CEO. He says that he heard there were people from our group telling members from the community the couldn't play; and that this is unacceptable.

So, let me put this out for you all nice and clear. If you want to try to enforce this event's players, you will be confronted by the CEO. You will probably be warned to stop, or be completely removed from the event (if not banned from the gym).
