What we're about

A user group for those interested in Spring framework technologies (see https://spring.io/ ).

Spring accelerates cloud-native Java development. Spring makes microservices quick and easy for Java developers.

We are looking to foster a Spring community in southeast Michigan with a goal of sharing information to develop better software leveraging all things Spring.

Join Us for an exploration of testing a reactive Spring Boot 2.x application. Test driven development gives us the confidence necessary to improve our code faster, safely. But how do you test components and services, as well as integrations across distributed systems, while maintaining fast feedback loops, and how do you do all of this within the context of reactive Java? In this talk, we’ll look at how to test imperative components, reactive data flows, and mocks. We’ll examine how to take advantage of test slices, and how to test web applications. We’ll look at how to ensure that API producers and consumers work well together using consumer driven contract testing without sacrificing the testing pyramid for end-to-end integration tests. And we’ll do it all within the context of reactive programming, in Kotlin.

Great Lakes Developer Experience Virtual Event Series Every Friday starting 8/20

https://connect.tanzu.vmware.com/Great-Lakes-Developer-Experience-Virtual-Event-Series.html

Path to production has become a massive focus as we build new digital experiences for our customers. The current processes and platforms simply can't meet the demands of our customers for three main reasons:

1) Silos make it difficult to scale modern development teams.

2) Companies are too invested in legacy apps to change.

3) It’s too difficult to scale IT Infrastructure.

We will dive into VMware’s Container Centric SDLC in 4 different sessions, once per week. Look for abstracts of each session in the agenda tab above.

These sessions are aimed towards developers and operators as we cover the following topics:
August 28th topic: Spring

Speaker: Josh Long, Spring Developer Advocate, VMware

September 4th topic: Package code as a Container and Connect Containers

Speaker: AHEAD

September 11th topic: Run Data Services and Connect Code Containers to Data Services

Speaker: TBD

September 18th topic: Run Containers on K8s on prem or in the cloud, Manage all K8s Clusters, and gain observability into all of your applications

Speaker: Jamal Khan, Application and Platform Architect, VMware
