Learn salsa at the 'United Styles' Dance studio in East St Kilda.

Salsa is the world's most popular Latin dance. It is loved because of it's music, it's origins and it's many dance style's.

Salsa refers to a fusion of informal dance styles having roots in the Caribbean (especially in Cuba and Puerto Rico), Latin and North America. The name "Salsa" is the Spanish word for sauce, connoting (in American Spanish) a spicy flavor.

8.00 - 9.00pm First Timers: (Suggested duration 4-6 weeks)
This class breaks down the rhythm and timing, basic footwork variations and leading/following fundamentals, with basic turn patterns at a slow pace. This class can also be used as a revision or warm up for the 8.30pm class. - No experience required.

9.00 - 10.00pm Beginner: (Suggested duration 3 months)
With emphasis on timing and more leading and following techniques this is a faster paced class with weekly easy to learn moves.

Requirement: First Timer level or understanding of Basic footwork, timing & turn patterns.

8.00 - 9.00 Intermediate Level 1: (Duration 6 months)
This level expands on lengthy routines with double turns and spinning for males and females.

Requirement: For those who have danced for at least 6 months in Beginner level 1, dance in time and can pick up complicated new moves with ease.

9.00pm - 10.00pm Intermediate Level 2: (Duration 6 months)
A very challenging class, fast paced with intricate turn patterns and routines. Salsa styling and Shines.

Requirement: For those who have danced for at least 6 months in Intermediate level 1. For dancers who have a greater understanding of modern salsa.

Classes $15 or $20 for two classes on the same evening.

Social dancing will run until 10.30pm...

Our classes are structured so that you can start at any time throughout the year and you can come & go as you please. No partner or bookings required. The dress code is smart/casual. Ideal footwear for ladies- a medium to high heel. Ideal footwear for men - leather or hard rubber sole shoe.
