Sorry, I'm missing something obvious. Sunset @ 5:30. Tripod useless on the boat. Won't we be in the dark from 5:45 - 6:30? Is 5:45 a party time? If so, what can we bring.

First of all you can't bring anything on the boat to eat or drink. There should still be some light around 6:00 I would think. I see you're not signed up for it so maybe you shouldn't then if you don't think it would be any good. This is the first time we have tried this so we're going in blind. If you're looking for good, sharp photos, then this might not be for you....

We are always close to shore and the setting sun is behind the buildings soooooooo....... You can always walk around afterward if you want close up photos of all of the decorations.
As far as the sunset goes, the best pictures are always ones with a tripod, shot on manual setting with an ISO of 100. You can't do this from a moving boat....
