This walk is a combination of Walk #4 and #5 in Fleming's book. We will do most of the staircases from both walks, but the route will be slightly different than the book. This will be a fairly tough walk with lots of steep streets and staircases.
I have not walked this entire route, but I'll have a map and directions with me. So, we may get lost and have to backtrack. But, hopefully that won't happen.
Rio de Los Angeles State Park
Meet at the traffic light at Macon and N. San Fernando Rd, which is the entrance to the park.
This park is east of the 5 freeway and south of the 2 freeway, in the general area of Dodger Stadium. Macon St and N San Fernando Rd are the two cross streets. This is the Cypress Park area of LA.
Parking in the park is free. There maybe free parking on San Fernando Rd.
Please arrive by 3pm. After introductions, the walk will start promptly at 3:15pm.
Route and Pace:
Route is about 6 miles. Pace will be a fast workout type pace. Walk should take about 2 hours and 15 mins.
Please be honest about your conditioning level.
If you are not able to keep pace with the group, you are on your own to get back to the start.

No crashers- Please sign up for this event. Please do not just show up.
RSVP limits are set, because I don't want a huge group on these walks. So, if you RSVP only for yourself, don't bring a guest.
Please keep your RSVP updated and current. Remember the 3 no shows and you're out policy.
If you make it a habit of signing up and then always canceling your RSVP, I will remove your RSVP to open a spot for another member who will attend our events.
There usually are no restrooms along these walks. Restrooms are usually only available at the starting point of the walks.
Always bring plenty of water.
Always wear running/tennis shoes. Open toed shoes are not a good idea for these stairs walks.
Any questions or concerns please email me, David.
