Responsibility: We are not responsible for you! You are responsible for yourself! You should be aware of your own capabilities in regard to your hiking endurance and how well you do in the elements-weather, terrain, etc. We will NOT wait forever for you to catch up on the stairs. Should you find you cannot complete the stairhike, you must be able to find your way back to your car on your own. We will not be able to leave the group and lead you back to the start. Use your smart phone or bring a map.
If you don't agree with this, please do not sign up!
The Garage Pizza Stairhikes were the first time I met Don T. the organizer of VHC! We're going to do a route that Don T. would enjoy; he could use his hand held hedge clipper on one of the staircase!!
This is a fast paced, 6 mile stairhike and 12 staircases, including the 3 part Prospect Stairs, 3 part Swan stairs, and 2 part Landa, and 2 very steep hills.
Please wear light colored clothing and bring a flashlight.
4339 W Sunset Blvd
Los Angeles, CA 90029
Time: Please arrive at Garage Pizza by 6:30pm. Walk will start promptly at 6:45pm. Please don't expect to arrive at 6:43 and for the group to wait for you to use the restroom. We will leave at 6:45pm, with or without you.
Use the bathrooms at Jay's Bar-across the parking lot from Garage Pizza.
Parking: Free street parking on Hoover or Talmadge (both streets are off of Fountain).
Metered street parking on Fountain and Sunset.
Not a good idea to park in Garage Pizza's parking lot. Your car may get towed.
Pace- fast pace
You are responsible for keeping up with the pace of the group.
If you are unable to keep up with the group, you are on your own to get back to the starting point.
Print out the map of the route, in case you aren't able to keep up with the group.
Click for Route (http://www.mappedometer.com/?maproute=464805): Is about 6 miles and will take about 2 hrs.
All walks should be treated like a work out. They are not guided tours!
No crashers- Please sign up for this event. Please do not just show up.
RSVP limits are set, because I don't want a huge group on these walks. So, if you RSVP only for yourself, don't bring a guest.
Please keep your RSVP updated and current. Repeated No Shows may lead to members being removed from the group.
There usually are no restrooms along these walks. Restrooms are usually only available at the starting point of the walks.
Dogs are welcomed but must be on a leash at all times.
Always bring plenty of water.
Always wear running/tennis shoes. Open toed shoes are not a good idea for these stairs walks.
Any questions or concerns please email me, David.
