Hi, David! I'm an industrial designer based in New Haven, CT. I went to the event last night. You are correct, there was a lot of software focus last night, however, there was also a lot of start-up attitude, inspiration, passion, ideas, networking and a whole lot of dialog and fun people! I'm new to the group but planning on going to future events. Great to some "physical world" focused individuals here. Products that are heavily "hardware" focused (of course, depending a lot on what they do) are relying more and more on software UI/UX solutions. It would be great for this meetup to have that kind of diversity (and many others) in it's members.

Good idea would be to post notes, highlights, key points from the roadshow....promotes interest, networking etc. I could not be there and have little clue if anything interesting other than photo's of some smiling people. Wonder what they are smiling about :)

David, Great comment. Software features (part of the eworld) are key differentiators for products in the physical world, providing vital proprietary advantages (think Apple and a million other examples). Join the effort -- BuiltinCT and many other organizations are with you on this. Join us on 4/28!

Missed 4/28 but will participate in future. From what I have seen on BICt huge focus on software and apps and not building a business...software and apps I might add of less and less return as time goes on.

Doesn't anyone here work on innovation in the physical world and just not the eworld or are we going to just give that away to China?
