Exhilarating! Big rollers, strong winds, and a Cockenoe Island. Awesome!

Great day with lots of waves to play in and 15 MPH winds. Amazingly we had no rain all morning and Jonathan and I only had a slight sprinkle when we went back to play in the waves in the afternoon. It was definitely not a paddle for the inexperienced, we old timers had great fun.

Good to get into Saugatuck and the Sound. Windy and choppy so we never made it to the Norwalk Islands.

You did make it to Cockenoe, John -- I think that counts. Not so far afield perhaps, but still no small accomplishment in those conditions.

A perfect day -- brisk wind, regular, rolling waves to play in, and cloud cover to keep us from roasting.

Questions: I don't have a sea kayak with at least two sealed bulkheads. Can I still go? Is there a fee to launch the kayaks?
    Thank you,
    Horacio

We will be going out into open water which can develop large waves and strong winds. Sea Kayaks with 2 sealed bulkheads are a must.

Food is available at Calf pasture beach so it is up to you what you want to bring. Drinking water is essential.

    Should I bring lunch?

9:30 arrival. Parking lot gets filled quickly these days so don't be late.

Hi ,looking forward to the paddle. Have a possible guest. Question: is that a 9:30
arrival or a 9:30 departure? Thanks

Hi Colleen. I'm going to my step-mother's 90th birthday party in the afternoon so I'm returning to Saugatuck after Cockenoe island.
The full trip is about 9 miles, but Cockenoe island is only about 4 miles round trip if you want to do the short version.

Hi, Is the round trip about 8 miles? I am not sure I can do it or not. I am still a novice.

Hi Lucy, enjoy the time with your family.

I haven't paddled with the SKG recently but looking forward to Saturday. Most of my kayaking is Lake Candlewood, Saugatuck Shores or Canaveral National Seashore. Thanks for planning the paddle.

This is a "maybe". I'm definitely up for paddling but timing is a problem.

Low tide is at 9:am so I put 9:30 so we can catch the incoming tide going west. I am sure you can catch up to us on Cockeoke Island.

Sounds good. Bring your VHF-- I'll call you to check on your whereabouts. (You'll have to remind me how to do that though - do we need to decide on a channel to use?)
