New Moon in Capricorn: Using Art to Create Change
"The silence of my heart is full of sound." - Elizabeth Barrett Browning WORKING WITH THE NEW MOON IN CAPRICORN You've heard about the benefits of meditation but sometimes it is hard to do. Fewer know about the profound benefits of artistic expression. Creating art, however, is another way to access a meditative state of mind and the profound change it brings. Healing changes. "Art is a guarantee to sanity," said Louise Bourgeois, a French-American artist who died in 2010 at the age of 98. She even went on to add, "This is the most important thing I have said." The creative process of making art is healing and life-enhancing. It is a potent recipe for psychological well-being. Creating art is a type of meditation, an active training of the mind that increases awareness and emphasizes acceptance of feelings and thoughts without judgment. It relaxes the body and mind. Art allows us to create space for our thoughts and connect with our true selves. Creating art is about reaching a state of consciousness and breaking free from the constant debilitating chatter of the mind. Art provides a feeling of flow and freedom. It can help us tap into a deeper and more quiet part of ourselves. We enter into a state of flow and present-moment awareness. We create from a place of inner stillness. Art taps into a space of true consciousness of being. Art allows for true self expression. The process of making art overrides the need for verbal communication. Creativity is its own language and enables a connection with others - and ourselves - on a non-verbal level. It can be an effective way of saying the true and secret things. This also explains how we can be moved to the core when looking at a work of art or listening to music without knowing the specifics of its origin. Art exists within its own non-verbal parameter and frees us up for unadulterated self-expression. As a plus, it is interesting to not that Bourgeois, when asked to comment on her extensive body of work spanning her entire lifetime, says what impresses her most " how constant I have been." Perhaps we need to redefine what we consider to be a storybook life. Happiness may be connected to nurturing a space that provides stability and a constant connection to our true selves. In this workshop evening we will work with the all the quotes and images you will collect online (with the help of a personal & private Pinterest board we will create specific to your birth chart - so you will need to create a Pinterest account). I will collect and print the dozen or so images for you to work with on your 12x12 art piece. So, if you're interested in exploring a deeper connection to the piece of your life that connects to love, relationships, and all things in your life that create connection and harmony. The fee includes all the art materials. The New Moon in Capricorn manifests forward momentum every time the Moon enters a cardinal sign (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn). It enters a cardinal sign for 2.5 days every week. It is made manifest in its entirety when the Moon is full in Capricorn six months from now. Let's get started.
