TL;DR - Having a Lean Canvas Workshop with Rachel Wright.
• Everyone fills out their own Lean Canvas (http://Leancanvas.com) before hand, bring it along
• 15 - 30min presentation/ workshop on the Canvas itself
• 10 - 15min open up to questions
• Move over to CBD or StrayDog
• Continue working on your canvas,
• See what everyone else is working on
• Generally get to know each other
• Go our own ways
The question was asked (https://uniqio.wufoo.com/forms/christchurch-lean-startup-circle/), what would you like at the next Meetup, you've spoken (https://uniqio.wufoo.com/reports/christchurch-lean-startup-circle/), and I'm very happy to announce we have our 3rd Meetup locked in (if you haven't done the survey (https://uniqio.wufoo.com/forms/christchurch-lean-startup-circle/) yet please still fill it out).
This Meetup we have the awesome Rachel Wright (http://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=108066277&authType=NAME_SEARCH&authToken=JN7u&locale=en_US&srchid=1817416161378938175929&srchindex=1&srchtotal=819&trk=vsrp_people_res_name&trkInfo=VSRPsearchId%3A1817416161378938175929%2CVSRPtargetId%3A108066277%2CVSRPcmpt%3Aprimary)coming in to step us through using the Lean Canvas. Rachel is the current manager over at UC innovators (http://www.innovators.canterbury.ac.nz/) and knows a thing or two about getting an idea of the ground. She's had a fairly decent stint over in Silicon Valley and has seen first hand how these things work.
To get the most out of this Meetup / workshop, Rachel has asked that everyone first have a crack a filling out a Lean Canvas of their own. I'd just like to stress that this idea does not have to be for a startup. It can be for a new internal project within an existing business. Some fanciful concept you have been sitting on. Whatever. Just have a crack at filling a Lean Canvas out for yourself before hand (and make sure you bring it along). You can find it here: http://leancanvas.com
I'd also like to stress that the canvas should only take you about 30min to complete. Don't dwell on any section, if you get stuck bring your problem along as there will be plenty of time for questions throughout.
Afterwards the plan is to head up the road to CBD (or Straydog), bring your canvas along, work on it a little more and generally get to know what everyone else is the group is up to (on that note: a very good article on why you should not keep your ideas secret (http://www.localsurgemedia.net/austin-community-and-business/dont-hide-your-ideas/))
(apologies for the date change - we had a clash with the Entre 75k award ceremony)
