1 partnership announcement, 2 New Creative and Mobile Dev Meetup Groups, and one more on the way

Great news, we are announcing a new strategic partnership with ModDevDC, including participation in the upcoming MoDevUX Conference on April 20, 2012.  All Just Dev It members will be offered a 20% discount off of all conference and workshop packages, a great opportunity.  An official announcement, including the discount code will be available real soon.

If that is not enough to get you excited, we would like to introduce you to two new meetup groups that have just been added to the Just Dev It Network, Communication Arts and Design Authority and Mobile App Cross Platform Development Authority.  These are two critical areas that are worthy of a dedicated meetup group to focus on topics that Just Dev It will take some time to get around to covering.

So why more groups, why splinter?  We want to meet the needs of all our members, covering topics well.  We want to also satisfy the special needs of certain markets and regions.  The Just Dev It network groups for DCBaltimoreMontgomery County and Va will be transformed to support those needs including dedicated workshops and study groups.  Just Dev It one will continue to support the larger meetups and events.  In some cases we reached out to other organizers of meetup groups to co-host events, share resources with very little or no success.  Just Dev It wants to become the authority in a lot of areas and transform the way that meetup groups are perceived, event formats and increase what is offered to it's members. Many of the members who have now joined these new groups are experts in their field or discipline and apply their trade every day.   These initiatives are set to mainly benefit our new and existing members.

We are now soliciting qualified members to act as lead organizers for planning and execution of meetups and other events.  We also are seeking members who want to present or volunteer as assistant organizers for Just Dev It and these new meetup groups.

Just Dev It is rapidly evolving into an pre-incubator/accelerator before members actually approach these types of organizations, including VCs.  So we want to continue on that path helping members discover, learn, share and collaborate propelling them to where they need to be for success.  There are so many topics to cover to support developers, creatives, entrepreneurs, start-ups and others and not a lot of time to do them all.  So, it was decided that we should create dedicated meetup groups for a few that created the most interests of members and are critical pieces to any individual who wants to launch an app, website/service, start-up or other venture.

Benefits of creating these groups are many, but to name a few - members who are interested in creative and mobile cross platform development, get their own dedicated forum to continue exploration, discussion and possible collaborations.  It offers a whole new expert pool of resources for Just Dev It and it's members to tap for presentations, advice and possible collaboration.  It's just a cool thing to do for our members who want more than just to talk about their interests, getting actual hands on experience via activities, workshops and study groups.

Communication Arts and Design Authority, automatically announced yesterday by, oddly enough did not exist as a dedicated Graphic Design nor UX/UI meetup group in the Washington DC/Metro Area, so we created this one to fill the void.  Already has 30 graphic artists and UI/UX designers who have joined since yesterday's announcement.

The purpose of the group is to showcase local area talent and cover the graphic design, illustration, typography, advertising, self promotional, interactive and photography scene.   We want to also share ideas, discover job possibilities, collaborate, meet potential clients, tap expertise, and establish business partners.

DC Mobile App Cross Platform Development Authority

This group explores the use of mobile cross platform development tools to accelerate the process of designing and building mobile applications. PhoneGapappMobiAppceleratorCorona, ENYOJS and other development tools leverage web technologies including JavaScript and HTML5.

Cross platform development tools are clearly the future for mobile development.  They are quickly becoming more capable catching up to the extensibility and performance of more traditional native development tools dedicated to each mobile device platform.

We will explore, discuss and investigate each of the popular cross platform development tools and compare their strengths and weaknesses.  Each tool has it's benefits, it depends on what type of app solutions are being developed.  We will investigate, together, which development tools are right for the job, including native sdks.

So, if you are interested in any of the new opportunities above please follow the links below to find out more details and/or enlists.  BTW, there is one more very exciting group on the way, an announcement shortly.
