Future Trends and Innovation in Melbourne Startups

Hey all,

After a huge year of Lean Startup Melbourne with all our events sold out, we come to the final one for the year.  This will be the last meetup for 2013, so make sure you come along for the networking, the education, the beer and the pizza.  Don't fret if you miss out though - we will be back bigger and better than ever in 2014.

Future Trends and Innovation in Melbourne Startups

The format of the night will be a number of Melbourne's best founders and entrepreneurs delivering a quick 5 minute lightning talk.  The talk will be on a key future trend including product demonstrations, plus there will be plenty of opportunity for Q&A from the crowd.

We have already confirmed:

Steve Sammartino
Lean Startup principles in manufacturing and the development of the TomCar.  Steve has promised to have a car present on the night!  Check them at www.tomcar.com.au

Lifx
The Internet of Things and the Lifx Lightbulb.  We will have one of the founders of Lifx present on the night, including a demonstration of their light bulb that is right now rolling off the production line.  Lifx are a fantastic Melbourne success story, having raised over a million dollars on Kickstarter in under a week, as well as securing over $10 million in pre-sale orders.

We are confirming more speakers for the night, and we hope to cover Robotics, Health, Wearable Computing and 3D Printing.  Stay tuned for more announcements closer to the night!

An action packed free week at StartupCloud is just around the corner [9th of Dec]. Every evening will feature a distinct event to boost the startup culture in Geelong.

    Monday: Practice your Pitch

Tuesday: Hack and Tell - What tools do you use? Have you built or planning to build any? Stuff like Xero, Canva and more, what do they mean to you? You get 5 minutes and then questions from the audience.

Thursday: Lean Spot Light - MenuHub. An interview style event with Adam Kirk from MenuHub.com.au, with Q&A.

Friday: It’s Friday at Last @ The Lord Nelson

We already have a few participants coming down, fresh from the booming startup scene, in Melbourne. We have 9 spots taken of the available 20, and we want the space full!

If you haven’t booked for the free coworking at StartupCloud, you had better get in quick - http://freeweek.eventbrite.com.au.

Also join the newsletter on startupcloud.com.au, to find out about events.

I hope we can host a Lean Startup Geelong sometime!

Unbelievable where lab on a chip tech is going. When Adam gave the talk last week didn't imagine they can put body parts on a chip. Just awesome!!

Still buzzing over last weeks Lean Startup Melbourne event at Inspire9. Gave me a mega dose of inspiration and adrenalin for working on Akanz's first product. The energy is still flowing into this week so I wrote down all I remember from the event! http://www.aakankshachhikara.com/2013/12/02/future-trends-in-innovation-in-melbourne-startups/

The talks and demos were all great. Thanks go to the organisers! As a lawyer, I also found the number if legal questions interesting - a good sign that all the topic were really world changing innovations! Question: which online forums do Lean Startup members frequent? I love discussing and debating business/tech issues.

CALLING ALL APPLE PROs. Upon typing your password on the virtual keyboard on your iPad every letter is visible for 3 seconds before it hides. How do you change this so that it automatically shows encrypted asterix for every letter? Thank you guys. Kind regards, Brigitte.
