Hike to Eagle's Peak in MT. Diablo State Park

This hike is rated DIFFICULT!! Join us on a hike through beautiful MT. Diablo State Park up to Eagle Peak, elevation 2369 ft.  We will see habitat ranging from oak woodland and riparian forest to chaparral. This hike is approximately 8 miles with a total elevation gain of around 2,500 ft . The trail has steep sections with loose gravel and other sections with steep slopes to either side, but we are rewarded with excellent views of the surrounding peaks and canyons, Central Valley and the Delta. Please make sure to bring plenty of water(water pack recommended) lunch since this will be at a least a 4 hr hike, sturdy hiking shoes/boots, hiking poles if you use them and layers of clothing. Hope to see you there.

Although this hike is rated DIFFICULT, I will be marking each intersection with chalk, so if you're not able to go the whole way you can follow the same path back.

NOTE: Sorry but MT. Diablo State Park doesn't allow dogs. For your safety, if you show up without water you will be asked not to hike. This hike will also have some hikers that sign-up through Save Mt. Diablo.

Nice job, Kirk! A great hike. I also appreciate the nice job you did marking the trail.

I RSVP'd with Save Mt. Diablo, the directions say to take Regency. Should we park on Regency or Montaire Parkway? Thanks.

Is anyone else concerned that it's supposed to be 98 degrees that day? I know we are starting early, but it's going to be hot! Yikes.

OK, thank you for the reassurance. I will fill my Camelback all the way and drink plenty of water the day before.

We should be fine as long as everyone brings enough water. By the time it starts to get hot we should already be part way down the mountain.

This looks like a wonderful challenging hike -- after you post the date, I'll make an effort to try to make this! PS: Hope the Upper Falls hike went well!

Hiked from base to peak and would love to do this one. All depends on the date.
