Midweek Sunset Hike In The Hills Above Alamo - 5 + mile Loop - Rated Moderate

Midweek After work Sunset hikes now forming in Alamo - The Discovery Hikers have found a little Shade and some challenge with this hike for the group .

The proposed route is a 5 + mile Half Urban (street - neighborhoods ) and Half wide dirt fire trail and Awesome Valley views - plenty of challenge, even for our regular conditioned Hikers. The path is up through the neighborhoods of the Prestigious west side Alamo hillside and on to the Las Trampas  Regional Park Trails, for about 2 miles on the Madrone Trail and back down through the surface streets to the famous Iron Horse Trail and return to Hap Magee Park for a 5 mile - 2  1/2 hour Moderate difficulty half Urban / half wide fire trail loop !

HIKERS PLEASE NOTE  -  THIS HIKE IS RATED MODERATE :           Depending on the groups pace for this hike , it is not especially difficult , but could be considered somewhat challenging if a fast pace is kept up . The group as a whole sets the speed of the hike -we do wait for the group to catch up at trail intersections - if all attendees want to walk fast then we walk the speed of the group as a whole group effort .

TO FINISH THIS HIKE IN THE DISCRIBED TIME ALLOWED (  by dark  ) IT IS NOT OUR INTENTION TO HIKE / WALK THE PACE OF THE SLOWEST HIKER .  PLEASE understand your physical hiking ability and hike within your means !

This hike is not recommended for beginning hikers, please check our calendar of events for more suitable hikes - and out of respect for the other hikers, please remember to hike with in your own ability !

This is a DOG Friendly hike and we welcome well behaved dogs on this one .

Restrooms and drinking water are available at the start of this 2 1/2 hour hike .

Organizers notes : If you like hiking on Nature trails with awesome Valley Views and seeing some of the most beautiful Homes in the Bay Area Architecture and Front Yard Landscape close up then this might just be your cup of tea !

Fast Paced group this week -24 hikers joined us - no problem finishing by dark . I enjoyed the conversation after the hike with a few members that stuck around for a bit . Glad the group likes these popular midweek routes . As long as there's interest in Alamo Hills we'll continue these through August . I'm searching for a new route to begin in Sept. to replace this hike .......Stay tuned !

Beautiful sunset hike with a wonderful group of people! Several adorable dogs joined us on the trail and had a great time, too! Another very enjoyable hiking adventure with interesting conversations and lots of laughs along the way! Thank you to Chris and Paul for leading the group and making sure everyone has the best hiking experience possible!

The uphill portion is the most difficult. The countryside makes it worth while.

Hello fellow hikers. Slept awkwardly and have a rib temporarily out of place which prevents me from doing any lengthy strenuous hiking. But if you're interested in a non-official (not sanctioned by leaders, and if we come across a vicious family of voracious deer you're on your own!) shorter walk/hike in the area at a slower pace (about 15-18 min/mile) let me know so I can look for you. I'll be finishing up work in area about this time and will be walking regardless. Can use same meeting point, head up Camille with our friends, share the Madrone Trail for a little over a mile, then cut back to the Iron Horse from the South Ave/Hemme trail, ending back at Hap Magee.

Glad this wasn't due to the water fight, I might have felt bad if it was. Hope you feel better soon Tammy! :)

Thanks Jim! It's only slowing me down, not stopping me. Or, maybe I'm perfectly fine and just setting you up for a water attack. Hmmm...
