Robots. Artificial Intelligence. Autonomous systems. Biohacking. Deepfakes. Additive manufacturing. Nanotech. Mixed Reality. Virtual assistants. If your first thought is, “AWESOME! But what are the security implications??” this is the meetup for you! We are planning an ongoing series of meetups specifically to discuss the information security implications of emerging technologies. All of these technologies are likely to have new risks, new attack vectors, and a requirement for new types of defense. In addition, some of them, such as Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning, can be used to improve or circumvent existing security controls (or both!)

The goal for these meetups is to have facilitated discussions and casual conversation rather than presentations or speakers. My initial thought is to pick one topic per meeting and focus the discussion on that. This first meetup will be a discussion of how to run future meetups and to brainstorm what topics should be in scope (and what, if any, should be out of scope or would be better served by Steel City Infosec’s larger membership.) To keep things interactive I’m capping these at around 20-30 people for now.

The meetup will take place in the former church at 608 Virginia on Mt Washington. You can enter from Virginia Street. There is parking on Amabell St. Please don't park in the parking lot of Bigham Tavern; they're already doing us a favor by letting us use their church.

We are not paying for any food or drink but they will be available from Bigham Tavern. If you’re taking public transportation, the 40 bus goes to Mt Washington; or you can take a bus or the T to Station Square and ride the Incline up, then walk a few blocks, for a more scenic trip.
