Traveling artist Ben Carr will be joining us to teach us some right hand technique! After the workshop, he will treat us to a short performance.
Creative Strumming Workshop
As much as chords are the backbone of the song, 'ukulele strums add the spice and flavor! This workshop will lead you through the chunk, fan, triple stroke, and finger rolls. We'll also combine different strums to create new and interesting patterns.
Please go to our Eventbrite site to register and pay for the workshop--RSVP on Meetup will NOT register you for the evening.
Tickets are $25 and can be bought here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/ben-carr-workshopconcert-tickets-55040373238

Our visiting artist's bio:
Ben grew up in the rolling farmland suburbs of Philadelphia. His first instrument was the alto sax but he found his true love in a pair of bongos, which quickly morphed into a drum set (and then a bigger drum set!).
Then Ben took a formative trip to Hawai’i where he discovered the ‘ukulele. This little four-stringed axe made more sense to the drummer than a guitar ever did and took his compositions in a new direction. Armed with intimate percussionist’s knowledge of rhythm and the melodic versatility of the ‘ukulele, Ben’s musical vision has become fully articulated.
In addition to being a performing and recording artist, Ben is also committed to teaching drums, percussion and ‘ukulele in schools and privately. He is a graduate of the James Hill Ukulele Initiative, a teacher certification process.
