Book of the Month: Becoming by Michelle Obama

Hycroft Manor

CA$20.00

If you couldn't get tickets to Michelle Obama's evening at Rogers arena, join us at in the boardroom at Hycroft for a discussion of her inspiring autobiography. While most people agree that she is an amazing woman this book is not just for women! What this book gives us is an inspiring story of someone who with grit and determination and strength of character overcame the odds and became an iconic leader in the modern world. More importantly, the book shows us her humanity. She is the first to admit she is just a person who struggles with the same feelings of not being enough that so many people wrestle with. For this book club, we will discuss the issues of race and gender, with Michelle Obama's story as a jumping off point. She would be the first to tell us her story, though similar to the stories of many, is her story and the discussion must have more voices. We will also consider how we can learn from the strategies and insights she used to overcome. We will get specific and practical so you can leave with the meeting with an actionable step that will move you toward becoming even more of your wonderful self! Come on out and meet some other stellar people who are open to growth and learning more about themselves and the world! We will meet at Hycroft Manor, 1489 McRae Avenue. Book of the Month: The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom

The Book Club for Busy People meetings are unique because you don't have to read the book to participate! It's book club without the shame! (Link to tickets below). Our April discussion will be inspired by the classic The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. (You may actually want to read this one; it's short!) Based on ancient Toltec wisdom, the Four Agreements is an exploration of the limiting beliefs that rob us of joy and create needless suffering. Learn to apply the Four Agreements to strengthen your resilience, improve your clarity and confidence, be more joyful and more effective in your personal and professional interactions! You'll have an opportunity to explore the significance of each of the Four Agreements: -Be Impeccable with your Word. -Don't take anything personally. -Don't make assumptions. -Always do your best. And you'll leave with a personal action plan for implementing or increasing the agreements into your life.
