SERVE AS A COMPETITIVE EVENTS JUDGE (DECA)

Orange County Convention Center

VARIOUS SHIFTS AVAILABLE. DECA’s International Career Development Conference (ICDC) is the pinnacle event for our student members every year. This year’s ICDC will see record numbers, with about 21,000 members attending the conference in Orlando. A large component of the conference is the Competitive Events Program, which relies on volunteer judges to evaluate student presentations. Your time will be spent supporting high school students who have worked all year for this opportunity. They represent their states in the hopes of being named an international champion. In order for these events to be successful and give students the best experience possible – we need your help. At ICDC, our members will be presenting projects that they have been working on during the school year. Having business professionals serve as judges is critical both to the successful execution of our conference and the real world experience for our members. All volunteer judges will receive complimentary parking at the conference site, breakfast, lunch, and a gift of appreciation for your time. Confirmation letters and detailed instructions will be mailed to all volunteer judges prior to the conference. If you have questions, please contact Stacey Sickler at [masked] or[masked]

Feed The Homeless Downtown

St. George Orthodox Church of Orlando

We'll be joining Northland Church as they prepare and serve dinner to the homeless in the heart of downtown, in the parking lot of St. George Orthodox Church. Set up starts at 3:15PM and we'll be done by 5:15PM. If you can, bring some food to share. (Bringing stuff is not required.) If you bring hot food, please bring bowls and spoons for serving. You can also bring other things that the homeless always need: clothes, athletic shoes, new socks and underwear, toiletries, insect repellant, backpacks, blankets, hand towels, rain ponchos... MEN'S UNDERWEAR ARE IN HIGH DEMAND. Please bring a pack of new men's underwear if you can. You can also bring Bibles for distribution. For any of the donated items, please wait until everyone is there before distributing the items. This feeding happens rain or shine, so be prepared for the weather. Kids are welcome with an adult, what a great way to model serving! SUGGESTION: Plan to go out for dinner or coffee afterwards so you can connect with fellow volunteers! Any questions, please contact Tom Denove at[masked]. You can look for Michelle or Donnie to check in with someone—or just jump in where you see a need! You can always spend some quality time talking to the homeless.

Dabble In Art @ Domestic Violence Shelter

Needs a location

For survivors of domestic violence and their kids, living in a shelter can be a challenging time. We want to bring a little fun and joy into their lives through art. Step Up For Love will provide art supplies and basic directions for the adults and kids in the shelter to create, play, socialize and listen to music. Volunteers are needed to help set up, play with the kids, make sure everyone has the supplies they need, assist in clean up, and just make a positive human connection. No art experience is required or expected. It's very casual. Please RSVP early since we have to fill out a confidentiality form before we go (safety of the residents is paramount). I will need real names, not just screen names, three days before the Meetup. Each person attending must be on the list and fill out the confidentiality form. Children 16 and older are welcome. The location will be revealed to the Steppers who RSVP and fill out the confidentiality form. Please download the confidentiality form by clicking this link or copying and pasting the URL into a browser: http://dragonflyad.com/ART/Confidentiality2.pdf -- then scan and email ([masked]) it back to me. Once I have your Confidentiality Form, I'll email you the directions. If you don't have a scanner or printer, contact me for other options. Though not required, if you can bring art supplies or a snack or drink to share that would be great. (Please comment what you're bringing if you are bringing anything. Some volunteers in the past have brought things like playdoh and temporary tattoos, which the kids loved.) Snack ideas: cookies, chips, fruit, nuts, etc. Drink ideas: Capri Sun, apple juice, Koolaid, etc. Art supplies ideas: child-safe paint, heavy watercolor paper, drawing paper, small canvases, coloring books, glue, scissors, glue sticks, markers, etc. PLEASE DON'T CHANGE YOUR RSVP AT THE LAST MINUTE UNLESS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY. WE COUNT ON YOU! NEW RULE: IF YOU ARE A NO SHOW TWICE YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO SIGN UP FOR THIS MEETUP.
