A Study in Emerald. I was dreading this as I was "rules man", a job I'm terrible at, for a game that is not straightforward! Shouldn't have worried - it was a glorious return to losing form! The game is a mix of....lots, is a bit confusing and throws up wonderful images and stories. My favourite was Dan and myself tussling over Agent Irene Adler. Unfortunately, it left both of us at the back of the scoring track, the game ended quicker than I anticipated and I was backest of all! This meant the whole Restorationist faction was eliminated (sorry Rob!) and Sarantis won. I remember Tim saying he played this at Essen and it was "interesting". I wondered whether it was a polite way of saying "crap" to someone who'd paid £50 for the game but turns out, after one play, all I can really say is it IS interesting and I really want to play again. Then we finished with Coup as lying to your friends faces and revelling in their downfall is clearly the best way to end an evening.

Nope. Just the guilt that despite all the shouts of 'I wanted to release my flying vampires' couldn't stop the warm feeling inside that I didn't care as the Loyalists had won! Now where did I put that blood stained teddy bear?

      February 15, 2014

    • Tony A.

You should be guilty about claiming to be a Duke through every round of Coup, weren't you taught "I must not tell lies."!

are there any pix. I don't believe anyone turned up without proof!!!

Not as much as Rob's when he turned up at the sanatorium!

      February 14, 2014

    • Daniel P.

The question is, did the ancient ones damage robs sanity or was he driven to deep despair by the lack of tea? Are asda ultimately responsible for the bombs that were going off all over Europe that night?

Cheers to Chris, Tim and Alexander for the game of Fresco - really enjoyable. The game has some nice ideas, and was tense all the way to the very end. Just for future reference here's some rules it's easy to miss:
    1) If 2 or more players are still not yet on the VP track (i.e. are still onstarting spaces S1 - S4) at the beginning of a round, then they switch places, so that the 1st player moves to the back of the queue.
    2) When the last 2 portraits cards are revealed at the start of a round, that will be the last round, regardless of how many fresco tiles are left to paint.
    3) The paint supply should not run out (I know it didn't, but we were getting close) - instead keep track however you choose (easier just to buy some more cubes!)

I've arranged dates with Asda and this has shifted to 13th. If that causes any big problems let me know and I can renegotiate.

    February 13, 2014

  • Tony C.

    February 13, 2014

    • Daniel P.

I'll bring lords of waterdeep. That's fairly straightforward.

      February 13, 2014

  • Tim G.

I'm going to bring Settlers of Catan with me as well.

    February 13, 2014

  • Tony A.

Erm, dunno if it is my iPad but does anyone else end up with Mark's new photo (where he is resplendent with luxurious goatee) cropping in such a way in the little box by his posts as to make it look like he has a "toothbrush" moustache? It is a little disconcerting but he is our leader: Ja wohl, Mein Spiele-Fuhrer! P.s. The full goatee looks good, Mark - it's just the cropped version!

    February 11, 2014

    • Tony A.

Having said it doesn't do it anymore i noticed today it still does crop my photo like that on my android meetup app! And Oi! you, less of the grumpy if you please!

      February 12, 2014
