Follow: Anyone Can Be a Hero

Players: Joy, Lex, Ace, Justin
Scenario: Super Heroes
The Goal: To establish ourselves as a super team

Anyone can be a superhero. Well, at least as long as you have superpowers. But after that, whether it be posessing the strength of TWO men, the power to set ones hair on fire, being a robot, or the a knack for ripping peoples life force from their body, we're all Heroes.

The first leg of our journey turned out just peachy. We already had a sponsor (Nova Roll Bakery), and quickly agreed on a name for our super team (The Baltic City Super Novas) despite the vocal protest of one former super villain in our midst (Mistress of Death, played by ACE). A little apartment hunting headed up by our friendly robot-person, Mercy MK. V (Lex) and one pyromaniac with flaming red hair (The Flaming Torch, played by Joy), landed us a headquarters in a nearby office building. So what if we occasionally have to split it with a graphic design team. Overseeing the endeavor was Duo (played by myself) a lucha loving martial artist with the ability to split in two.

Unfortunately, once they had the basics in order, Duo got a little cocky and called out the local arms dealing ring on local television. The second leg of our quest found us dealing with the consequences of that as the cartel didn't wait for us to come to them. Whats more, they had a few supers of their own and we ended up losing the soul of our team, plucky slug-man, Aiden, to the head of the Cartel. A shady super by the name of Black Jacket. We escaped the compound with our lives, but barely, failing to live up to our promise of dealing with the ring once and for all.

In the last desperate leg of our journey to super stardom, we decided to take some cues from the most experienced member of our team, Mistress of Death, and went through a little re-branding. We were now the Shadow Avengers, and we were on a mission of revenge.

After a quick training montage, we acquired a few new costumes, (black featured prominently), and confronted some cartel thugs on the docks. A brief interrogation lead us to the Yacht Club where a dark ritual was taking place. The team proved themselves, and with the noble sacrifice of Mistress of Death, we were able to take Black Jacket out and change the direction of the team back to the cause of good.

Overall, this game was great. The first act was mostly devoted to establishing the team and the characters but once we'd done that we were more than happy to jump into the action. The stones (we used magic cards) provided some scary twists and kept us on the edge of our seat.

Whats more, we had someone who was completely new to role playing games on our team and ... they did fantastic.
