  • A Celebration of the life of Brian Clark with Drinks, Stories and Happiness

CELEBRATING THE BRILLIANCE OF BRIAN CLARK: Brian Clark was a friend and a colleague to many of us who have been pushing the boundaries of storytelling, here in the Los Angeles area. Brian was a fun, positive, intelligent force to be reckoned with, most known for being one of the original founders of Indiewire (http://www.indiewire.com/article/brian-clark-former-indiewire-publisher-and-digital-media-producer-dies-20150702) and was a major player in the immersive storytelling community. Brian passed away on July 2nd in New York surrounded by family and friends following a brief battle with cancer. He was 46. Please join us at a wonderfully fitting venue, the Wellesbourne, (http://www.thewellesbourne.com/) to celebrate his life as we tell stories about him, educate those who did not know him and network with each other. This will be a happy celebration in his honor because Brian was an amazing networker/connector who loved to laugh. Brian was an uplifting spirit who served as both a pioneer and a mentor to filmmakers, friends, media professionals, and the community alike. So if you don't know Brian, don't worry, you will understand his impact by the end of the night. He was one of a kind. BRIAN ON THE STORYFORWARD PODCAST: In this encore episode (http://www.stitcher.com/podcast/storyforward/e/073-brian-clark-transmedia-is-a-lie-38342814?autoplay=true) from 2012, Brian Clark (GMD studios) defends his controversial assertion that “transmedia” has outlived its usefulness as a descriptive term for storytelling … and how refining the definition of this emerging breed of narrative will contribute to its long-term viability. Classy atmosphere aside, this welcoming gathering spot is manned by a crew of expert mixologists, who would just as soon concoct a custom cocktail as they would one of the many excellent drinks on the formal menu. Even that selection includes vintage drinks that you don’t see everywhere, chief among them the Harvey Wallbanger and the grasshopper. The latter, a vicious delight containing equal parts green creme de menthe, white creme de cacao and cream, is sure to put you in your happy place.
