I know. Heady title. But simply put, when we don't release tension and painful emotions that build up from stressful situations and trauma, we literally end up holding ourselves too tight. When we (involuntarily) do this, we don't just have tense muscles, we don't breathe as deeply, because we shut down the natural synchronization between our breathing, our core muscles and our spine. We also take ourselves off-line from our natural alignment with gravity. This makes everything we do feel harder, because in a way, we are heavier.
