Calling all Dystopian Young Adult Fiction book lovers! Join us as we read and discuss Neal Shusterman's award-winning Unwind Dystology. Unwind, set in Ohio in the not too distant future, is this generation's boundary-pushing, scarily relevant The Handmaid's Tale.
Summary: In America after the Second Civil War, the Pro-Choice and Pro-Life armies came to an agreement: The Unwind Accord states that human life may not be touched from the moment of conception until a child reaches the age of 13. Between the ages of 13 and 18, however, a parent may choose to retroactively "abort" a child through a process called "unwinding." Unwinding ensures that the child's life doesn’t “technically” end by transplanting all the organs in the child's body to needy recipients. Now, feral, trouble-making and unwanted teens are easily removed from society.
With breath-taking suspense, this book follows three AWOL Unwind teens who are running for their lives from a society that values their parts more than their humanity.
An Unwind Dystology television series is currently in development. The book is appropriate for ages 13 and up.
As a local YA Fiction author, I am so excited about this book and would love swapping thoughts on it and future books with like-minded book lovers! FInd out more about the Unwind Dystology on any book retail website or Neal Shusterman's Storyman website.
