This is a scenic and historic hike. From the First Water Trailhead we will hike out to Garden Valley and head north across an open flat area which yielded many pottery sherds until very recently. (Look for a big mound of rocks covered with grass and palo verde trees - the site of an Indian Ruins.) From there we will hike through an unnamed canyon where you can spot mine remains from as recently as the 1930s-40s. Then it's on to Hackberry Springs where amongst the cottonwoods, willows, netleaf hackberry, mesquite, and oak you can spot a pipe coming out of the rocks dripping water year-round. We will finish the loop by following the bed of First Water Creek to an old windmill and corral then back to the trailhead.
