With all the recent heavy rain, many of our favorite off the beaten tracks along Morris Bridge rd are under water again....So let's do the Alafia tract!

Expect 9- 10 miles... mostly shade on very easy well groomed tread, but there will be a couple of sections in the sun. Restrooms and water at the trailhead.

Please be sure of your conditioning level and ability to hike this distance.

Parking lot for this trailhead is shared with Pinecrest Little League... In order to avoid user conflicts with the Little League parents, I am suggesting that as many of us as possible park outside the fenced area along the road. The shoulder is wide and firm. You will see my Subaru out there and will have a couple of FTA events signs.

our probable counterclockwise loop.......

Please be sure of your conditioning level and ability to hike this distance.

Bring 2 liters water, whatever food you need, ground cloth for sitting, bug repellent, any necessary personal items....

This activity is sponsored by the Suncoast Chapter of the Florida Trail Association. There is no fee to hike and you need not be an FTA member to participate, but if you regularly enjoy our FTA activities please take a moment to learn more about us and consider becoming an FTA member.

[masked] day of hike

..... quote from WILLIAM BARTRAM, English botanist, commenting on Florida's astonishing natural beauty while on his journey in the 18th century exploring the southern colonies..........

"Whilst I, continually impelled by a restless spirit of curiosity, in pursuit of new productions of nature, my chief happiness consisted in tracing and admiring the infinite power, majesty, and perfection of the great Almighty Creator"
