Join us in bear country as we kick off the Western Corridor series, a series of hikes covering the entire Western Corridor of the Florida National Scenic Trail. We begin in the Ocala National Forest near the junction of the East and West Corridors. Meet at the Old Hunt Station located near the junction of CR 316 and FR 11 (old 88). Join us as we head south on the Florida trail to the junction of the East and West Corridors. Follow the Western Corridor through unique habitats. Notice the moss lined paths that resemble a path through newly fallen snow. Keep your eyes open for a Florida black bear..... this is bear country. We will have a vehicle at the half way point for those that do not want to hike the entire 11.5 miles. Bob Jones will be leading this hike. It is the same location Bob will begin his walk across Marion County at the end of January.
This hike is lead by Bob Jones of the Florida Crackers Chapter!
If anyone wants to carpool, let me know. (Elizabeth)
