"Living Shorelines", Brennan Wehrhahn
Brennan will be presenting on the benefits to native sea and shore grasses that result from living shorelines and oyster reef restoration projects.
"A living shoreline is a protected, stabilized coastal edge made of natural materials such as plants, sand, or rock. Unlike a concrete seawall or other hard structure, which impede the growth of plants and animals, living shorelines grow over time." www.fisheries.noaa.gov
Brennan Wehrhahn has a BA in Maritime Studies, University of West Florida, 2018. He has experience in shoreline surveys and restoration,
contributing to thousands of feet of restored oyster reef. He was the first person in Hillsborough County to recycle oyster shell for conservation.
Brennan has overseen marine conservation projects across the state, including the founding of a 501(c)(3) organization for the removal of marine pollution.

Come discover the beauty of native plants on a guided walk with a representative of the Suncoast Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society. The two-hour walk will start behind the Joel E Jackson Nature Center in the Native Plant Garden. After a short presentation, we will walk the boardwalk and trails to see what grows naturally in the park and learn how native plants benefit us and wildlife.
Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.
Dogs are allowed in the park but NOT on the boardwalk.

Visitors will sign a county waiver. The walk will be outdoors on maintained paved or dirt trails.

Walks are FREE, but there is a $2 entrance fee per vehicle (cash only) to get into the park.
