Running an Experiment with Custom Powerball (now free for limited time only!!)

I am currently running an experiment with Custom Powerball App for iPhone.
Right now I have changed its price to free.
I plan to get answers for the following questions.

Question 1: Does making your app free make users download it more often?
Question 2: Does more downloads mean better ranking in iTunes search results (on phone & desktop versions)?
Question 3: Can developers use this "Limited Time Free Offer" to boost their sales of their apps?
Question 4: Will the free downloads result in good user ratings?
and a few more.

I hope we will find out shortly and enjoy the free app :)

Answer 1: Yes, lots of app downloads (in 100s) during free phase from all over the world. ~45% from USA.
Answer 2: The answer is a little complicated.
Switched from paid to free app: Dropped from 39th rank to 95 rank in search result.
users started downloading: jumped to 31 rank
8 hrs of free downloads: jumped to 20 rank
20 hrs of free downloads: jumped to 17 rank
Switched back to paid 99cents: jumped to 7 rank

Just have to wait and watch about Answer 3 and how long it keeps the 7 rank.

Rank fell down to 36 one day after making it paid app.
Apparently only 1 person purchased app after making it Tier 1 app.
The rest were all updates.

Hopefully after 1 month, the reviews will start kicking in to pump the app rank.

Lesson I learned from this experience is as follows:
If you have a good app, make a free version with in-app purchase.
