What are some special advantages that Sundance offers over other venues?
We’re an all-volunteer organization. No one gets paid for anything they do in Sundance.
We offer lots of outings, in great variety - There are events for all levels - easy to advanced.
We’re a full service organization: Leaders are well organized and plan everything for their outing, from recommending equipment to helping to arrange carpools, to planning the trip.
Sundance can front any deposits needed by outing leaders (e.g. for outfitter costs).
Camaraderie of a club: Over time, as you attend more outings, you’ll meet and get to know members. Many members have formed life-long friendships in our club.
Consistency and reliability of the outings: All outing submissions go through a review process and are vetted by Team Captains and our Outings Director.
We have a lot of experience in handling unforeseen events that come up on outings (these are documented in our member/ leadership handbook.)
The club funds leadership safety training courses for leaders each year.
Sundance is incorporated with the State of New York. As a result, we adhere to NYS’ laws governing not-for-profit corporations, such as holding elections and maintaining financial records, and maintaining a fully staffed Board of Directors.
