  • Game Night - Scattergories on Zoom

    Online event

Scattergories is a super simple and fun word game, and family friendly. The game host will explain the rules at the beginning, so bring a writing implement and paper or cell phone to take notes on.

The Zoom link is at the bottom. Only people who have RSVPd on Meetup will be allowed in due to previous zoom bombing.

    Some Zoom pointers:

    • It's fantastic if we can see each other's faces and hear each other while we play, but we know maybe not everyone can do both. But please participate, even if you sit out a round out to see how it's played or to take a break. This is a game, but also excellent time to hang out and crack jokes. (Non-participants/Zoom bombers may be kicked off.)
    • It helps if you get your camera set up and at the right angle and lighting BEFORE you join Zoom.
    • And please, if possible, use earbuds or headphones for your audio instead of your device's built in speakers; it'll cut down on feedback, echo, and extra noise for everyone.
      Thanks!

  • Sunday Assembly with Dr. Leslie Lewis (in person and streaming)

Bankers Hill Club House (also known as San Diego Indoors Sports Club)

Learning, Research, and Action on Homelessness: Roots, Impacts, and Solutions for Change

Housing is foundational to human health, safety, security, stability, and wellbeing. Yet, a large and growing number of our neighbors are housing insecure or unhoused. Negative stereotypes about people experiencing homelessness abound. The stigma generated by such views adds insult to the injury that San Diegans experiencing homelessness already bear. Leslie R. Lewis, Ph.D, MPH, Continuing Lecturer and Director of Urban Health and Equity Initiatives in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning at UCSD and Director of Education and Community Engagement at Homelessness Hub will address the following: Who are the homeless? What can we learn from academic research and from people with lived experience themselves about the roots and multiple (individual; community; societal) harms of housing insecurity and houselessness? What actions can we take, both individually and collectively, to help create the social and economic conditions in which everyone has safe, decent housing?

Even though we can’t promise to have the type of books you may be looking for, we encourage you to bring books for all reading levels and ages. Leftover books, games, and puzzles will be donated to a worthy place or places.

This event will be held outside on the back patio unless the weather looks not so good (in which case it will be moved inside). This event is open to anyone at 12:30 with a hard stop at 1:30 PM when the building closes.
