ADVANCED BEGINNER Hike in Scenic Santiago Oaks Regional Park

  • Santiago Oak Regional Park - Mabury Entrance

6531 E. Mabury, Ave., Orange, Orange, CA (map)

    33.818733 -117.783394

  • ABOUT THE HIKE:  Advanced Beginner level hike.  Lying peacefully in East Orange alongside the Santiago Creek, the 1,758-acre Santiago Oaks Regional Park is a nature lover's paradise.  This secluded refuge offers hikers, bikers and equestrians the natural charm of mountain vistas, an orange grove, a meandering creek and a mature forest of many different species of trees.  Wildlife abounds and a series of interconnecting trails leads through shady groves and to a lookout that features an awe-inspiring view of Orange and the surrounding foothills.  We will hike as a group at a moderate pace, stopping at trail junctions to regroup.  Expect to take a varied loop route that includes both flat shady trails through creek side woodlands and some exposed scenic hills with magnificent views.  Starting from the Mabury trailhead, we will hike Wilderness Trail, up Oak Trail to a scenic overlook, down Grasshopper Trail, through Rinker Grove, and back Wilderness Trail to the trailhead. As parts of this route are steep, rocky, single track trails, trekking poles are advised. This is a dog friendly park and hike.
