Ridgeview Dr & Highlands Ave, Laguna Niguel, CA
ABOUT THE HIKE: The Aliso Summit Trail is a little known gem discretely perched on the steep cliffs of Aliso Canyon. This smooth, wide trail is tucked behind the gated community of Coronado Pointe in Laguna Niguel. It borders the east boundary of Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park. The serpentine trail follows the 800-foot-high cliffs on the east rim of the canyon. Throughout the hike are views of the stream-fed Aliso Canyon and the Pacific Ocean.
The hike is 5 miles out/back, about two hours of total hiking time.
200 ft. elevation gain - it is slight uphill going and downhill back.
ABOUT THE PICNIC: At the half way point in the hike we will take a half mile detour off trail to a picnic table for a leisurely potluck brunch with appetizers to share. BYOB (beverage) exercising adult discretion.
ADDITIONAL NOTES: The trail is dog friendly. There are no rest room facilities on the trail.
DIRECTIONS TO THE HIKE: From the 405 Freeway, take the Oso Parkway/Pacific Park Drive exit into Laguna Niguel. Turn left on Alicia Parkway, right on Highlands Avenue, and right on Ridgeview. Since Ridgeview is a horseshoe, look for the Meetup location on the south end of the street, next to the trail head.
