  • ABOUT THE CAMPOUT: Join your hiking buddies for an overnight campout in the Mission Creek Preserve. The campout is intended to facilitate two hikes in the area. These hikes and the campout are separate Sunset meetup events that require separate RSVPs.
    - A Saturday morning hike from the Preserve to the Whitewater Preserve, both within the Wildlands Conservancy. We will return from Whitewater by car shuttle to the Mission Creek Preserve for the overnight campout.
    - A Sunday morning hike in the nearby Wildlands Conservancy's Pioneertown Mountain Preserve.

The Wildland's Conservancy is giving us FREE access for camping, with flush toilet restrooms, picnic tables and water. There are no shower facilities in this campground. The camp includes a large stone house with picnic tables that will be use as our communal dining room. This is a car camping experience with gear coming out of our vehicles. You will need tent, sleeping bag, mattress, flashlight, camp chair, cook stove, etc., etc. After setting up camp, at 6 PM we will be sharing a potluck dinner. Wood burning camp fires are not allowed. However, propane fire pit and cook stoves are allowed. Your event host will bring a propane fire pit that can be used to roast hot dogs and some mores. On Sunday morning, we will have a potluck breakfast, break camp, and drive to the location of the Sunday morning meetup hike in the nearby Pioneertown Mountain Preserve.  The Mission Creek Preserve contains 4,760 acres and includes a rich wetland and painted hills that hosts a variety of wildlife that include deer, bear, big horn sheep, and mountain lions, within the shadow of Mount San Gorgonio. Dogs are allowed in the Preserve.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS TO MISSION CREEK PRESERVE: From Interstate 10.... past the Highway 111 turnoff, exist Highway 62 toward Yucca Valley.... proceed 5.5 miles to Mission Creek Road (see the small green sign on right).... turn left on Mission Creek Road and follow it approximately 5 miles on a two lane dirt road to the gate.... proceed through the gate on a single lane dirt road to our camp ground at the end of the road. Your event host will provide the gate code access at the meetup.
