Distance: About 9 miles

Time: about 3 1/2 hours

Elevation Gain: approx 1400 feet

Level: This is a strenuous hike due to elevation, rough terrain and distance. Not suitable for beginners. If you are a very fast hiker this hike may not be for you as this will not be a fast paced hike. If you are a slow hiker this hike may not be for you as we hike at a moderate but steady pace.

We will start at the willow staging area located on Laguna canyon road. [This parking lot has a bathroom]. The hike is a combination of fire roads and single track trails. This hike will provide beautiful ocean and mountain views. We will start on Stagecoach road for a good mile warmup before we head up the very steep and rugged Laguna ridge trail which is about a mile long and will definitely work your legs and lungs. When we reach the top we will walk along bommer ridge, missing link and fenceline until we reach the lizard trail. We will drop down onto Lizard then lower Laurel Canyon until we reach the parking lot. There are restrooms there. This trail is strenuous and you will really work your lungs and legs for a great cardio workout. We meet at all trail junctions for all our hikers. It will not be a race and nobody will be left behind.
This is a great and fun hike.

Please arrive a few minutes early as we leave promptly at 8. Make sure you have plenty of water, snacks and all the hiking essentials.

Directions: Take Laguna canyon road [133] heading towards Laguna beach. As soon as you pass El Toro road you make a right into a dirt parking lot. (There is another parking lot 1/2 mile further down which is not ours.) Make sure you enter the first one. If you drive more than 10 seconds after El Toro road you missed it. There is a $3 parking fee unless you have a county parking pass. The parking lot opens at 8, however on most days the gate is opened 10-15 minutes before 8.
