ABOUT THE EVENT: This event involves three parts:
10:30 AM - we meetup at the Information Center for an audio assisted self-guided tour of the temple. The dress code is no shorts or sleeveless shirts. Photos only outdoors.
11:30 AM - we gather for a vegetarian, buffet lunch in the temple dining room. No alcohol at the temple.
12:30 PM - we depart the temple for a 60/90 minute exploratory hike in the hills above Hacienda Heights. We take Draper Road and Skyline Road (dirt truck trails) on an out/back route with the trailhead across the street from the temple parking area.
ABOUT THE HSI LAI TEMPLE: This spectacular 15 acre, 102,432 SF, Buddhist temple is the largest in North America, with architecture reminiscent of The Forbidden City.
ABOUT THE BUFFET LUNCH: Some consider this the best Chinese vegetarian food in our area. We will dine on the second floor of the temple in the Hall of the Five Contemplations. The cost of the buffet is eight dollars. More about the buffet here:
DRIVING DIRECTIONS: From O.C., take the 57 Freeway north.... take the 60 Freeway west.... exit on S. Hacienda Drive heading south.... turn left on Glenmark Drive and immediate right into the temple entry gateway and parking. We will Meetup at the Information Center inside the temple.
