Dear Fellow Hikers,

Last month, our Meetup hosted 2,736 hikers which was another record for your participation in our hikes. We also added 368 new members, bringing our membership of Happy Meetup Hikers to over 10,800, an new high! One of the reasons that we bring so many hikers to the trails is that we have more fun hikes.  With over 380 upcoming events currently on our calendar, we have more hikes than any other hiking group in the global meetup system. And one of the reasons for that is our amazing team of organizers, that presently totals three dozen.

We are pleased to announce several recent additions to our cadre of hike leaders:

Bernie Laporte is leading a multi-level weekly evening hike on Wednesdays around the Newport Back Bay and just peaked Mt. Wilson with our hikers and with more peaks to come.

David McCoy started with us by taking not one, but two, groups of our hikers to peak San Gorgonio, the highest mountain in Southern California. Nothing like starting at the top!

DJ, aka Deb, has been taking groups of "hikers" to "walk on water" with her stand up paddle adventures in Newport Back Bay and Harbor.

Jennifer has initiated a multi-level weekly evening hike on Wednesdays that takes us down the always lovely, flat and safe Huntington Beach Boardwalk.

John (Roadrunner) Santy will be adding his long, diverse list of amazing hikes to our calendar, beginning the middle part of this month. Stay tuned!

Dr. Miranda is back on the trails, having recently delivered twin baby girls! Congratulations, Miranda!! She leads multiple weekly conditioning hikes in Crystal Cove.

Rod "the Cat Herding Specialist" has joined our team to lead occasional out of area adventures. Recovering from an injury, we trust that he will be back on the trails soon.

It is not just that we have more hikes; it is that we have more FUN hikes. As an example, we LOVE to celebrate TGIF with great evening hikes to start the weekend in style. This coming Friday, we have three options for you:

Darlene leads the famous Modjeska hike up the Harding Truck Trail into Cleveland National Forest to a picnic dinner. Jim leads a lovely beginner hike around the north Woodbridge Lake to a five screen AMC movie theatre. And Randy, that's me, leads a four mile scenic hike on the San Clemente Beach Trail to a bon fire and potluck dinner on the sand. Join us!

You can find these and our entire listing of over 380 upcoming hikes by scrolling through our Calendar using your computer and the link below:

It's free to join our Meetup group and free to go on hikes. We don't ask for donations to support our activities or philanthropy. However, as a part of our Sunrise to Sunset Hiking Meetup family, we do ask that you participate regularly in our events.

We hope to see you on the trails soon...
