What we're about

This is a David Foster Wallace discussion group. We'll start with his essays. And if things go well, we'll tackle Infinite Jest.

We're currently reading Wallace's first essay collection, A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again -

We're pacing the discussions at 1-2 essays per meeting and covering them out of order so we can spread the best ones across multiple meetings.

Thanks! And if anyone has any thoughts or suggestions for the group, please let me know.

Let's discuss essay #6 (about Michael Joyce) and This Is Water

Max's Coal Oven Pizzeria, Perimeter Mall

UPDATE - We're meeting at Max's Coal Oven Pizzeria in the Perimeter Mall, which is upstairs next to GNC and the AT&T store. Let's discuss Essay #6 (about Michael Joyce) in A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again, as well as DFW's famous 2005 commencement speech, This is Water. The speech isn't in the book, but it's free at the link below. It's probably the most widely-read thing Wallace created - https://fs.blog/2012/04/david-foster-wallace-this-is-water/. I'll update this shortly with the location. Also, if this date or time don't work for anyone who wants to come, let know, and I'll see what I can do.
