What we're about

Surrey Speakers Club is an organisation based in Guildford, affiliated with the Association of Speakers Clubs, set up to help develop the community's public speaking skills. Each session is designed to bring together people that want to learn, develop and improve their speaking skills.

At Surrey Speakers Club you will be guided on delivering speeches in front of an audience to learn how to captivate them. Your peers will give you constructive feedback and you will be given the opportunity to feedback to your peers.

When you join the club you can take advantage of the Speakers Introductory Guide. This guide will take you through the necessary steps to achieving quality and confident skills as a public speaker.

The club is for anyone interested in practising public speaking, regardless of experience. Each member is encouraged to progress at their own pace.

Surrey Speakers club is closely linked with Reigate and Redhill Speakers Club and Dorking Speakers Club, members of one club are welcome to attend meetings of the other clubs.

Public Speaking Practice (Online)

Online event

Join us online for public speaking practice without leaving the comfort of your own home.

Meetings are held via Zoom and attendees should email [masked] if they wish to be sent the email invitation.

Meetings are informal and the aim is first and foremost for people to enjoy themselves. We encourage everyone to speak if they want to but there is no requirement, lots can be learnt from watching others speak.

The first half of the meeting is for prepared speeches which are then evaluated. After the break we have either an impromptu speech session or an educational session, focusing on different aspects of public speaking.
