THE SURREY HILLS 3 PEAKS CHALLENGE, 11.5 Miles, Hilly, Pub Lunch

  • Mar 29, 2014 · 10:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Join SABRE leader Alan on this walk that will take in the 3 peaks of Holmbury Hill, Pitch Hill, and Leith Hill with stunning views to the south coast if it's clear, we will also visit the site of an Iron Age Hill fort. A lot of this walk is on hard sand but there will be some sections that will be muddy if wet. There are some steep ascents and descents. Reasonable pace but not too hard.Unsuitable for dogs.

The postcode will take you to a lane called Felday Glade, follow the lane to the very end to reach the car park.If you are unfamiliar with the area please allow plenty of time to find the car park.

If you enjoy the walk and would like to join either SABRE or SAWW as a full (Rambler) member please contact either [masked] or [masked] for details. There is currently a 30% discount on your first year of membership of Ramblers

The sandwiches were very good, perhaps not enough for some, the pub struggled to cater for the amount of people who turned up, despite the efforts of the organiser of the walk phoning ahead with the order for sandwich platters.

I genuinely think the people in the pub were great under the circumstances. They were expecting a group of 15 - 20 and got a group of 47 plus two other groups of walkers, they could have easily said "no, we can't take the extra numbers" but they didn't. The extra sarnies and reduction in price was in my opinion more than fair. I wouldn't hesitate to take walkers there again, if they'll take us! I hope you enjoyed the walk too?

    Why are dogs not allowed?

    March 24, 2014

    • Alan H

Ultimately the decision on whether or not to allow dogs on a walk is with the volunteer walk leader, in this case the leader (me) would prefer not to have dogs with the group.

I was interested in coming along with my other half - is 12 your limit or can we come along?

    March 22, 2014

    • Alan H

Hi Nina, Sorry but yes, 12 is my limit. There will be other walkers there from SAWW and SABRE that are not MeetUp members. Alan.
