CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS AT LEITH HILL PLACE - FRIDAY STREET, COLDHARBOUR AND LEITH HILL CIRCULAR
Join walk leaders Val and Jill on this festive circular walk.
The walk is largely through woodland. It starts and ends in the picturesque village of Friday Street and passes through Coldharbour, which is the highest village in Surrey and Leith Hill, which is Surrey's highest hill. On a clear day the skyline of London can be seen from the Wembley arch around to Canary Wharf, with all the sights of London in between. There are also extensive views to the south, including Gatwick Airport to the south-east. At lunch time, there will be an opportunity to visit Leith Hill Place - free to NT members, but £5 for non-members. Mince pies and mulled wine will be available (optional donation for these) and carol singing and/or a tour of the house. We aim to stay there for about an hour and a quarter. After lunch, we return to Friday Street via Wotton Common and Broadmoor.
There will be mulled wine and mince pies at Leith Hill Place and possibly other refreshments, but you may wish to also bring sandwiches.
Moderate pace. Some ups and downs and muddy in places.
