What we're about

Are you curious about what it would really take to survive a SHTF (s* hits the fan) event? Such groups tend to be concentrated in the US - land of the armadillo hat! - but increasingly the scientific and ecological narrative is shifting from hope for a solution to climate change and biodiversity loss, to how we might navigate inevitable collapse. This was most recently seen during the opening of the Poland climate talks by Sir David Attenborough who led by saying the civilization's collapse is on the horizon.

I am curious.

This could be because I have worked in climate change for five or more years, and with some of the governments on which we a good outcome depends. My view is that we are missing the targets by a sheer country mile, and my response needs to fit.

This group is about asking the "what would it take"? question. There is so much clutter online mostly by very extreme people, but what about the rational, the calculating and the balanced? What does a rational, calculated and balanced response look like?

Survivalist SHTF Meetup

Portaferry Hotel

We will arrive and grab a hot drink or a pint - I don't mind. This will be an informal gathering in the bar rather than a "meeting". The location is tranquil and always quite. The question is simply put on the table, "what should the response be in practical terms to the collapse threat"? Its an honest discussion; there will be room to lament the sad state of things, but the theme is practical even to the extent of asking, how do we prepare?
