  • VAIL, COLORADO February 4 – 11, 2017 (Saturday – Saturday)

Come join 44 of your fellow SSC friends for a week of skiing and fun at one of SSC’s favorite ski destinations! Vail offers 5,289 acres of ski terrain covering three different sections: the front side with a variety of runs for all abilities, the back bowls with 3,000 acres of open powder stretching 6 miles wide, and Blue Sky Basin with an abundance of naturally-gladed terrain. Vail has the largest network of express quad chairlifts in the world. The stats: base elevation 8,120 feet, peak 11,570 feet, average annual snowfall 346 inches, 33 lifts, and 193 trails (28% novice, 32% intermediate and 40% advanced).  Your lift ticket is also good at Beaver Creek. Ride the ECO transit bus to enjoy three distinct mountain areas (Beaver Creek, Bachelor Gulch and Arrowhead Village) that range from gentle, manicured slopes to open intermediate trails to steep bumps. The 1,815 total acres of terrain cater to skiers and riders of all abilities. Beaver Creek has fewer skiers, so it is easier to find powder late in the day. Buses run every half hour from 6 am to 2 am at a cost of $7 each way. Whichever mountain you prefer, all areas offer great skiing, great restaurants, shopping and alternative winter activities.

We will stay at the newly refreshed Evergreen Lodge with a prime location in Vail Town Center located between Lionshead and Vail Village. It is just a short walk and an even shorter ride on the complimentary Town of Vail Bus to the Lionshead gondola. The Evergreen houses the Altitude Bar & Grill, Annapurna Restaurant and The Ski Haus ski rental shop. Rooms include Wi-Fi, mini fridge, coffee pot, flat screen TV with cable and hairdryer. The Evergreen also has a fitness center, outdoor heated pool, indoor hot tub, dry sauna and free ski storage.  SSC’s package, priced at $1,894 per person/double occupancy, includes 7 nights lodging at the Evergreen Lodge in a Valley View Room with 2 queen beds, daily breakfast, round trip air between Harrisburg and Denver, round trip ground transfer between Denver and Vail, baggage handling at the Evergreen Lodge and 5 of 6-day lift ticket at Vail/Beaver Creek. To reserve your spot on this great trip please send your completed trip application and deposit of $600 per person payable to “SSC” to trip leader Becky Havice.   Any questions, contact Becky at[masked] or [masked]

Trips go on sale at our summer picnic on June 18.  Applications will be accepted by mail when postmarked June 11 or later.   You must be a dues-paying member of SSC to go on our trips:  single $25, family $35.
