What we're about

If you are interested in theatre, comedy, performing, storytelling, writing, meeting creative people in the local area or just having a laugh, then this group is for YOU!

Improv is the art of collaboratively creating theatre in the moment. It can be dramatic, it can be funny (it doesn't have to be!), it can be emotional, it can be musical, it can be anything! It's brilliant to behold and it's liberating to do. There's no wonder its taking the world by storm at the moment. It's a fast growing scene in London and Brighton right now but there's not much improv in between the two cities. This is where we come in!

There's a great variety of ways you can become involved with 'The improv community of Sussex and Surrey'...

- We meetup in Horley and Crawley at least once a week to practice improvisational theatre techniques in fun and supportive workshops.

- Participants of these workshops have the option to become involved in showcases in local theatres. These are really fun to be in or to watch

- We're always going on trips to see improv shows in London, Brighton or anywhere in between.

- Then there's all our other social events (in the pub mostly)

We sail under the banner of 'Dingbats Improv' and you can find out more about us on our website http://www.dingbatsimprov.com

Improv Comedy Workshop

The Archway Theatre Studio

This event may only have a few people "attending", however there are always at least 10 people at the workshops. Every Wednesday we meet up at the Archway Theatre Studio and practice our improv. We'll play silly improv games, work on our teamwork and listening skills and create some awesome scenes, sketches and stories together! The workshop is suitable for anyone. These are not comedy classes, you do not have to be a comedian. The best improvisers are good people who are willing to listen and build on other people's ideas. Wear clothes you are comfortable in and I suggest bringing a bottle of water. (Don't worry, it doesn't get very physical) You can park on the pavement directly outside the Studio. There is also plenty of roadside parking nearby. It's directly underneath Horley train station and right next to the station's bus stop. Please arrive from 7.50pm so we can start bang on 8pm. The workshop will cost £5 - please bring this in cash or book online... https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/dingbatsimprov Some of us go to the pub afterwards and anyone is welcome to join. Look forward to seeing you there, Ed.
