  • SD Gardeners: Bed Prepping!

    Theosophical Society in America

This Saturday we'll be focusing on prepping additional beds for planting. That includes using the broadfork on the corn bed, which will be a bit of a workout! We'll also be checking in on our new transplants and replacing any as needed. Additional fencing and trellising needs to go up, as well as putting down the last of the cardboard that's lingering in our planting space. For those who want to sweat, we can also put down some woodchips. We'll be seeding additional trays of flowers and herbs as necessary, as well as finishing other garden chores like weeding. Sustain DuPage has partnered with the Theosophical Society since 2016 to create an organic garden on the TS grounds designed to teach our community how to grow, harvest, store, and cook food communally. At each cooking event, we prepare meals based around the fruits and vegetables grown from our garden. All meals are vegetarian, with vegan and gluten free options available. A suggested donation of $10 is requested to cover the costs of kitchen rental and supplies. We accept cash, card, or checks!
