Attention Food Waste Champions, Community Gardeners & Food Scrappers !!

SJC has arranged a special garden tour at El Sol Brillante Garden, on the Lower Eastside of NYC, to be shown how they managed to turn around their stinky composting system and to now process 4 TONS !! of food waste each year. They have a tiny team and a great system we'd like to see replicated here in Jersey City. Come join us and meet Susan Greenfield who is the Garden Steward for El Sol as she tours us around this beautiful garden and tells us how they did it. The group is meeting at the gates at 5pm, located on the south side of E. 12th Street between

Ave A & B. The tour is 1 hour and will start ON-TIME. See you there !!

Shig Matsukawa is one of her partners in this success story, is lead educator for SJC and is currently working with the PEACE Garden up at Five Corners to evolve their system.

We've been beating a drum for some time now about the opportunities available to REDUCE our food waste footprint in Jersey City and to RE-USE our food scraps by RECYLING them into a fabulous soil amendment for our gardens, parks and tree pits.

WE NEED MORE PEOPLE TO GET ONTO THIS PLEASE !!

Most folks in Jersey City do not have backyards to do composting but EVERYONE can reduce their food waste footprint and become a FOOD SCRAPPER ! Get with the program here Food To Good To Waste / Bokashi / Community Composting. (http://sustainablejc.org/wordpress/projects/community-composting/)
