Nite of PURE BRAINSTORMING !!

Present your project ideas to the group and we'll begin to choose how we want to create more public art inside of this GREENER JC initiative; all expressions welcome - permanent installations . . . dynamic, impermanent expressions . . . and everything in-between . . .

Bring some food and drink so your minds and bodies stay refreshed :-)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sustainable JC is focused on launching a city-wide Rain Garden Campaign to help alleviate the enormous burden stormwater is having on our sewer system; it presents a health issue to Jersey City and the sewage overflow is polluting the Hudson and Hackensack Rivers. We can easily improve this problem by 50% with such a campaign and we hope our efforts will lead to MANY FORMS of Greener Infrastructure in JC.

Let's celebrate the Rain with Sound Effects, Dance, Sculpture, Architecture, Fruit Trees, Nature Habitats, Thirsty Plantlife, Rocks That Like To Swim, Fish Made of Chalk , Story Telling Food, Medicinal -Textile -Dye Gardens That Hold Hands With Water Gardens, What Else ???

Well let's not forget the Inukshuks . . .

Previous Discussions Leading Up To This Brainstorming Session -

Part 1 - an informational workshop with ioby's founder Erin Barnes who presented an overview of how the VERY user friendly ioby platform works AND how community resourced funding can support SJC's Project Teams. Part 2 - follow-up Brainstorming session to share ideas suggesting which projects might best to combine Green Infrastructure and the ARTS in urban environments. We discussed "Creative Placing Making" and how the ARTS could partner on sustainability projects we're planning. Part 3 - Creative Placemaking - facilitated discussion with Leo Vazquez Rutgers Program Director for "Arts Build Communities"; he lead us thru the use of a Decision Tree tool that will help community collaborators select a project on the basis of the values associated with Sustainable Community Development / Re-Development.

OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS !!

This Green Infrastructure + ART Project Series -

ART HOUSE PRODUCTIONS & Sustainable JC know that THE ARTS ARE CENTRAL TO SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES EVERYWHERE !! THEY ARE EMBEDDED IN THE SOCIAL FABRIC AND FEED THE SOUL OF URBAN ENVIRONMENTS.

This particular initiative is a SHOUT OUT TO ECO-ARTISTS who are interested in helping to transform and remediate issues impacting OUR ENVIROMENTAL LANDSCAPE

IT IS ALSO A SHOUT OUT TO OTHER PROFESSIONALS AND COMMUNITY STAKEHOLDERS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN WORKING WITH THE ARTS COMMUNITY AND SJC in an effort to BRAID TOGETHER GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE & the ARTS into a series of imaginative and INNOVATIVE DEMONSTRATON PROJECTS !!!

Our collaboration on this project series will explore how community members from diverse backgrounds can design a project together that brings more Green Infrastructure and more PUBLIC ART installations to our Neighborhoods; we will target an initial crowd sourced funded project with a budget of $3000. and get behind both a traditional fundraising effort (door-to-door) AND an online, social media driven FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN using partner site www.ioby.org to demonstrate how we can all succeed on a collaborative project of this nature.

Please join us for an evening of stimulating discussion !!

We're just getting started ~
