What would you like to get from this group?

Meet like-minded people and cultivate networks and relationships to make changes locally, regionally, and potentially nationally AND to have fun doing it.

What Sustainability, Environmental or Social topics are you most interested in?

Working on mainly rural sustainable agriculture and rural development policy. Interested in mobilizing under-represented and impoverished communities (rural and urban) around the concept of affordable access to good, healthy food, knowledge of said food, self-sufficiency in the food system, and career-building/skills-building via the expansion and cultivation of agricultural/urban agricultural business enterprises and organizations. Also seeking to learn more about a multitude of topics from fellow network members.

What fun activities would you most like to be involved with?

Active, communal activities that promote sustainable lifestyle habits -- big potluck dinners/community meals, group bike rides/ski trips/fun runs. Learning experiences and outings that teach members about sustainable alternatives to everyday tasks -- ex: foraging, creating home-made cleaning products w/o harmful chemicals, hobby gardening, etc. Also activities that allow members to be more in tune with nature -- hikes, orienteering, sailing, etc.

What skills in sustainability do you already have that you could share with the group?

I have a background in Environmental Studies and currently do policy work surrounding sustainable agriculture. I hope to be able to educate and infuse my knowledge on a broad spectrum of issues to the group and in turn glean new knowledge and gain new skills from group members.

Originally From Milwaukee, UW alum '11, engaged in sustainable agriculture policy work. My gf and I are looking to get more involved in a community of people that make environmentally conscious decisions about how they function in the world.
