*Due to thunder and lightening, this meet up is going to be cancelled.
We have two very different rides on tap for this week. Both rides will be starting at the JAVA DEPOT in SOLANA BEACH.
THE MORE NORMAL RIDE
For those of you that would like to stick closer to the coast and enjoy a 32 mile ride with a few challenges, we have the Back Streets of Encinitas/Cardiff/Carlsbad Ride:
32 miles, 1475 ft elevation
Kim Z. will be leading the C group. If we have enough B riders interested in doing this route, I would love to have a third leader to lead this group (or B and C can ride together). Average speed will be in the 12-15 mph range for this ride, with re-grouping.
For those of you that are looking for a challenge that's perhaps a little out of the ordinary, we have the Climbing Challenge:
~50 miles, 5200 ft elevation
This route will be heading somewhat inland, and will be taking on the locally (in)famous climbs of San Elijo, Double Peak, Twin Oaks, Via Ambiente, and Mt. Israel. NOTE: There are NUMEROUS options to cut the elevation/challenge on this ride, so if you are wanting to do SOME of it, but worried about doing ALL of it, then all listed above (except San Elijo) can be skipped (or done partially). Double Peak, Via Ambiente, and Mt. Israel are all out-n-back climbs. The climbs will be done "at your own pace" and I will be encouraging everyone to take it quite a bit slower than you might normally do one of the climbs on their own. It will be on the warm side Saturday, so bring plenty of water and snacks, and most likely expect to stop for a water refill.
If anyone would like to offer to help lead a B version of the climbing challenge, I would love that also.
The regular ride notes apply: bring a spare tube, tire changing tools, and helmet.
