SWING LEFT VOLUNTEERS FROM MANHATTAN AND BROOKLYN CROSS BRIDGES TO TAKE BACK THE HOUSE
Event and Auction, June 12, to Support New York State District 11 Democratic Candidate
Swing Left, created in the wake of the 2016 election, aims to help take back the U.S. House of Representatives in the 2018 midterm elections. On June 12, organizers from reliably “blue” districts in Manhattan and Brooklyn invite the community to join the “Blue Wave” at a fun and fundraising event at Mustang Harry’s, 352 7th Avenue, from 6:30-9 p.m.
Swing Left chapters around the country are lending support to 75 vulnerable House districts. Research shows that New York’s 11th Congressional District, which encompasses Staten Island and parts of Brooklyn, is a “winnable” district. This district is now represented by Dan Donovan, a regular Trump supporter. Money raised through the June 12 event and accompanying auction will go directly to the Democratic challenger to make sure he has the funds to run an effective campaign right from the start.
The live event will feature a video produced by editor and producer Gary Wachter, founder of Charity Docs, music by Urban Edge, and guest appearances by leaders from post-2016 activist organizations around the city. Tickets are available online at https://secure.actblue.com/donate/swingleft_bluewave and will be available at the door. $40/adults and $15/students.
